Friends – Printer Cartridge

Don’t Throw Away That Empty Cartridge!  The Friends of the Southfield Public Library have launched a fundraising project with the help of an inkjet recycling company — Empties4Cash. Empty inkjet cartridges can be recycled and remanufactured. The Friends will receive up to $4.00 for each cartridge turned in. This will directly benefit our library and it’s great for the environment!

You can help! Any inkjet cartridge with a print head can be recycled, regardless of brand or type from all kinds of printers – HP, Lexmark, Xerox, Compaq, Brother, Dell, Canon, or Apple. Bring in your empty inkjet cartridges (placed in the original box or a plastic bag) to the Library. The Friends Book Cellar also offers postage paid baggies that you can put your empty inkjet cartridges into and mail anytime.

Benefits to the Friends and Our Community:

  • The Friends will be paid up to $4.00 for each cartridge.
  • Free shipping.
  • Reduce pollution — cartridges do not decompose for 1,000 years!
  • Save energy – empty cartridges can be remanufactured and reused.
  • No buying, no selling, no burden to anyone.
  • Everybody helps – we can make a difference!
  • You can get empties from friends and neighbors — on average, a person uses 2 cartridges a year.
