Carl Henry has performed since the 1980s. With his powerful guitar and Dobro work, along with the gritty vocals, you are drawn into the musical experience. At a Carl Henry show, there are no listeners, only participants in the journey.
He’s won the Detroit Blues Challenge’s solo/duo competition twice. Carl learned his craft from playing with some of Detroit’s greatest bluesmen, including sharing a performance with John Lee Hooker, who told him he was “too hot”. Ask him and he will tell you quite humbly of how much these people influenced not only his music, but indeed his life.
Come join him on a musical journey, where every road leads you into places where the coffee’s always hot, the beer is always cold and the music paints the pictures of where and who he’s been.
$5.00 general admission or $3.00 admission for Friends of the Southfield Public Library members. No charge for children under 12. Jazz & Blues is sponsored by the Friends of the Southfield Public Library and the Detroit Blues Society.
